Petra: Siq Baja

This is another siq where you will almost certainly not see people.  Its much tougher than Siq al Muthlim and you will definitely need to take some rope with you, and maybe even climbing shoes and a harness for abseiling.

Inside Siq Baja is a neolithic site which is beautifully excavated and preserved (mainly because no one can get there) which you can only reach by coming up through the siq. We didn’t visit the neolithic site on this visit as we topped out of the Siq and then were too tired to go back in again, but here is the GPS point marking where in the Siq you have to scramble up to your right to find the neolithic site.

Siq Baja ends abruptly with a dry waterfall.  There are a couple of possibilities to scramble out of the siq. The route we took is here.  We then walked to Um Babein and back to the road that runs between Little Petra and the waste water treatment plant.
